About ANY

Our Mission

The mission of the Asian Network at Yale is to connect, inspire, and empower the Yale community including Asian Heritage professionals, supporting Yale’s ability to excel in an increasingly complex, competitive and diverse world.

We strive to do the following:

  • Develop a support network for Yale employees, including Asian Heritage staff at all levels and strengthen the professional and social relationships between Asian employees, and the university.
  • Assist Yale to capitalize on the range of skills, backgrounds and competencies of the Asian Heritage community and advance the University’s mission as a global institution of excellence.
  • Sponsor at least 3 cultural events annually that celebrate the heritage and richness of traditions.

The aim of the Office of Employee Engagement and Workplace Culture is to create an inclusive and empowering work environment for the diverse work community here at Yale University. The Office of Employee Engagement and Workplace Culture is committed to bringing our colleagues of the Asian Heritage community into the fold to join our other heritage staff organizations.

Steering Committee

The primary function of the Steering Committee is to provide guidance for the strategic direction of ANY in order to ensure that activities are aligned with the mission and goals of the organization. We meet on the Tuesdays of the second week each month and our team consist of staff, faculty and postdoctoral students.

Our functions include:

  • Establishing the strategic direction, missions, and goals of ANY
  • Developing the year’s priorities, programs and events
  • Voting on major decisions that impact ANY’s missions, goals, and brand
  • Representing ANY and communicating our purpose to the greater Yale community.

Sub-Committee’s

The Career Development sub-committee supports and enhances the professional development of members at all stages of their career through education, training, networking, and other activities. We are responsible for coordinating these efforts.

Our functions include:

  • Managing ANY’s leadership speaker series, including making arrangements for speakers and establishing the themes
  • Developing programs to assist ANY’s members to advance in their careers at Yale
  • Identifying which available “hot jobs” should be announced to ANY’s members

The Community Engagement team oversees the strategic communications and marketing plans to promote ANY’s mission and encourages community participation to increase membership value, benefits, and satisfaction.

We are responsible for maintaining the integrity and appropriate usage of the ANY brand and communicating to members and the wider Yale community. 

Our functions include:

  • Developing marketing literature, including oversight of the ANY logo
  • Deciding what types of communications are appropriate to email to the community
  • Creating periodic surveys to the community
  • Administering social media accounts
  • Assisting with the continuous development of the website.
  • Creating new programs to cultivate engagement of new and current members

The Membership and Outreach sub-committee is the link between ANY and the Yale community. We are responsible for outreach to the Yale community and for increasing membership to ANY’s planning committees.

Our functions include:

  • Overseeing outreach to employees, including new employee welcome emails
  • Organizing quarterly networking luncheons
  • Managing membership lists

It is important for us to promote and to celebrate community service with our members. The Community Service sub-committee provides opportunities for members to participate in service and sustainability activities, sharing our skills with the community while gaining valuable experiences and having fun.

Our core functions include:

  • Identifying which community service efforts ANY should be involved with
  • Planning logistics for the community service efforts
  • Coordinating co-sponsorship opportunities for large scale community service efforts.

The Social and Cultural sub-committee aims to enhance the social and cultural experiences of the ANY community. We coordinate numerous social and cultural events throughout the year and our responsibilities include the organization, and execution of these events.

Our functions include:

  • Planning the details for ANY’s social events, including food, entertainment, and other logistics
  • Identifying cultural events within and beyond Yale that ANY can collaborate and/or communicate to our members
  • Selecting and organizing ANY co-sponsorships of cultural event collaborations 

The Well-Being sub-committee develops programs and awareness around healthy living, including mental wellness, mindfulness, and work-life balance.
