Chinese Dragon Boat Festival

Chinese Dragon Boat Festival organized by the Yale Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Group

Open for all Yale community, family friendly, $5 donation/each will be suggested.

Join us to know the story about Dragon Boat Festival, which tradition starts the end of the spring and autumn period (around 470BC)in China.

Special Festival food “Zongzi” 粽子will provide with Chinese tea and snacks.

Paper folding and coloring your own dragon boat and “Zongzi”.

Chinese calligraphy bookmark making and basic strokes practice on magic paper.

Some traditional games, maybe…

This is a special Chinese culture Festival, we will celebrate “Duanwu” festival, 端午节, people also call it Dragon Boat Festival. Falling on the 5th day of the 5th month according to Chinese lunar calendar, the Dragon Boat Festival is one of great significance.

This is a only festival people say “Good Health!” “安康“to each other and hope we all can healthy and far away from all kinds of the bad things.

About the Organizer:
Yale Chinese painting and Calligraphy Group created in September, 2011. Locate at Yale International Center, New Haven. Members in this group from different countries, most of them are the Yale spouses, students and staffs, they all come together with the similar interest. Some of them learned it before but most of them are beginner, They are sharing experience, learning technical, improving together and enjoying the time in our Group.

Each semester the group will orgnize and celebrate special Chinese culture related festival, and open to all the Yale community or public.
