Dr. Marvin M. Chun: Teaching, Research, and Leadership Experiences at Yale

Please join the Asian Network at Yale for a discussion with Dr. Marvin M. Chun about his career experience at Yale in teaching, research, and leadership becoming Dean of Yale College.

Dr. Marvin M. Chun is Yale University’s first Asian American dean. He is a Richard M. Colgate Professor of Psychology and Professor of Neuroscience. Dr. Chun served as the John B. Madden Head of Berkeley College from 2007-16. He received a B.A. in psychology from Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, a Ph.D. in Brain and Cognitive Sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an NIH postdoctoral fellowship in the Visual Sciences Lab at Harvard University. He first became an assistant professor at Yale in 1996 in the Department of Psychology and Interdepartmental Neuroscience Program but accepted a tenured position at Vanderbilt University in 1999 before returning to Yale as a professor of psychology in 2003. Dr. Chun will step down as Dean of Yale College on June 30, 2022, to continue with full-time teaching and research.
