Please join the Future Leaders of Yale (FLY) and Asian Network @ Yale (ANY) to discover the wonderful atmosphere of a traditional Chinese tea ceremony with The Green Teahouse Managing Partner Ting Luo and find out what the art of drinking tea really means.

Copying Sacred Scriptures: Sagyŏng (Buddhist sutra transcription) and Lecture

This event marks the opening of the new exhibit, “Copying Sacred Scriptures: A Spiritual Practice,” now on view in the Hanke Gallery in Sterling Memorial Library. The event will include an introductory lecture and live Sagyŏng demonstration from Master Dagil Kim Kyeong-ho. A reception will follow at 6:00 p.m.

Master Kim is a poet, calligrapher, and artist who has devoted himself to the continuation of the rare art and technique of Sagyŏng (Buddhist sutra transcription) for the last 30 years.

Lunch and Learn: Weili Cheng ’77, Executive Director of the Yale Alumni Association

Join the Asian Network at Yale (ANY) for a conversation about career and service with Weili Cheng ’77, Executive Director of the Yale Alumni Association. Weili Cheng is former chief counsel for The Ritz-Carlon Hotel Company and Marriott International, and also served in the Department of Justice. She is the youngest and first alumna of Yale College to serve as chair of the alumni board. Lunch will be provided for in-person attendees. This event will take person at Evans Hall, 165 Whitney Ave, Room 2410 and via Zoom.

Breaking Bread Together

Join the departments of Therapeutic Radiology, Genetics, and Laboratory Medicine, along with Yale’s nine affinity groups, for the return of Breaking Bread Together, a cultural food tasting event. During this event you will learn about Yale’s nine affinity groups, discover new cultures; sample food from other cultures; join a community that values and embraces difference; celebrate diversity, inclusion, and belonging; and network with a new colleague.

Please note that this event is for Yale staff, post-docs, and faculty members only. Registration is required.

NAMI Series - Fulfilled Healing in AANHPI Communities: Is it possible?

The Sharing Hope Series is a cross-cultural celebration in collaboration with the Office of Diversity & Inclusion (ODI), Asian Network Yale (ANY), and National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). Sharing Hope creates safe spaces for Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities to foster connections and address pertinent issues that affect us. We will touch upon topics such as mental health and family, accessing care from AANHPI professionals, signs and symptoms of mental health conditions, and more!

VIRTUAL: Kitchen Talk: Food Histories, Literature, and Afro-Asian Archives in the Americas

Join the Association of Asian American Yale Alumni and Kitchen Marronage for a virtual kitchen talk with novelist Monique Truong (YC’90) and Dr. Tao Leigh Goffe (GSAS ‘15). Together the two will explore Afro-Asian intimacies in the culinary archives of colonial encounter. A special recipe will be distributed to participants beforehand.

VIRTUAL: The 50/50 Campaign Virtual Learning Session

Join YWCA Hartford Region, Yale’s Affinity Groups, and The New Haven Club of The National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club’s Inc. for a virtual learning session about the 50/50 Campaign, an initiative to promote gender equity and racial diversity on municipal boards and commissions. The 50/50 Campaign educates and encourages community members to join their local municipal boards and commissions to ensure residents have a voice in the decision-making process and help improve the quality of life for their community.
