The Asian Network at Yale (ANY) is devoted to nurturing a sense of connection, motivation, and empowerment among Asian heritage professionals within the Yale community. Through its efforts, ANY aims to strengthen Yale’s ability to thrive in an increasingly complex, competitive, and diverse global environment.
In alignment with its mission, ANY successfully hosted first post-pandemic social event, on Thursday, September 14, in the lobby of Yale Science Building. This gathering evidenced to be a resounding success, attracting a turnout of around 100 participants. Members of the Asian community at Yale came together, establishing connections and engaging in friendly conversations with peers from various departments across the campus. The event was open not only to Yale staff and faculty, but also to postdoctoral scholars and their guests, emphasizing the inclusive nature of the gathering. The event was marked by a delightful array of Asian cuisine and beverages, adding an extra layer of cultural richness to the occasion.
In the true spirit of community involvement, ANY partnered with Havenly, a non-profit organization in New Haven dedicated to creating inclusive and hospitable environments for women immigrants and refugees. This collaboration extended a helping hand to those in need, strengthening the bonds of unity within the community. Raffle was also held during the event, and three lucky attendees won gift cards from Harichoku and Uni-Home Life store, both of which are local Asian businesses in New Haven.
If you couldn’t make it this Fall, don’t worry! ANY has another social event lined up for the Spring. Keep an eye out for the details in the upcoming months via the ANY newsletter. If you have any ideas or suggestions for what you’d like to see in the next ANY Social event, feel free to get in touch with ANY Co-chairs, Brian Hu and Joanna Carmona, or with ANY Social Cultural sub-committee chairs, Jocelyn Ryan-Small and Allison Kim.
